SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION |
|
|

At the Scholarship Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Government for students of Std.IV & VII, Nimish Atul Wagh did us proud by scoring a total of 290/300 and standing first in the urban area and 4th in the State Merit List. Kaustubh Shirish Panse of Std.IV got a total of 280/300. From Std.VII we have Neha Hemant Joshi with a total of 263/300 and Aditya Rammohan Degala with a total of 260/300. |

Our school got 100% pass result for the SSC Board Examination. Neelay Phadke stood first in school, with 90.93%. The second rank was shared by two students, Simraan Gole and Aamod Desai with 89.06%, and Swaraj Bhat stood third in school with 88.53%.
Neelay Phadke got the highest marks in English (85%) and Social Studies (143/150), Aamod Desai for Marathi (80%), Nikita Kangude for Hindi/French (93%), and the highest marks in mathematics (148/150) was shared by four students – Aamod Desai, Akhil Katkar, Atman Mehta and Simraan Gole. |

|
Std. V and Std.VI had an English Recitation Competition. This was conducted by Mrs.Tipnis and Mrs.Kotnis. Judges for the event were Mrs.Phatak and Mrs.Gambhir .
Yashraj Gaur, Ronit Patil, Devesh Narayanan and Gauri Gadkari of Std. V won the first, second, third and the consolation prize respectively.rom Std.VI, Anoushka Joglekar, Shriya Khisty, Aishwarya Adgaonkar and Ujjwala Raina won the first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively. |

Students of Std.VII & VIII had an Extempore Speaking Competition in Hindi, conducted by Mrs.Kusurkar and Mrs.Sheth. The students were judged by Mrs.Garware and Mrs.Sant. The winners from Std.VII were Shubham Ekbote (1st Prize), Janhavi Apte (2nd Prize), Amol Joshi (3rd Prize) and Prajakta Late won the consolation prize.
From Std.VIII, Amruta Sachdev, Richa Raj, Nikhilesh Krishnakumar won the first, second and third prize respectively and Sarika Dhoot and Ravikant Bhogshetty won the consolation prize. |

Students of Std.IX & X had an inter class debate – the topic being “Should Animals Be Kept in the Zoo ?” Mrs.Kudchadkar judged the event and Miss Priyanka Singh anchored the show. The competition involved a question answer round, which gave an opportunity to the audience to express their views. Std.IX (for the motion) scored 118 points and Std. X (against the motion) scored 124 points. |

Std.IV & V had a Greeting Card making competition, and it was conducted by Miss Maria Wagmare, Mrs.Maneesha More and Mrs.Urmila Tipnis.
The winners of Std.IV A were Harshita Lalwani, Shravani Jjoshi, & Rohit Shah.
From IV B the winners were Neha Sontakke and Prutha Shedwale, Sumeet Kuvelkar, and Manali Bora & Namrata Konde.
Sonali Kulkarni, Neerja Mehendale and Isha Palsule were the winners from IVC.
The winners from VA were Rucha, Pushkar, & Denesh and Namrata S. The VB winners were Ronit Patil, Anandita P and Senjal and the winners of Std.VC were Anaga Arvind, Radhika D and Kavya D. Students of Std,VI and VII conducted “Market Day”, to enable them to understand Profit and Loss more easily. This was conducted Mrs.Meera Oke and Mrs.Babita Dang. Children made articles, listed their cost price, and sold it to the children and parents of their class. Later the profits made was calculated and the money collected was given to an orphanage.
Std.IX & X had the final round of the inter house debate with the Sapphire House emerging as the winner and the Ruby House as the Runner up. |

The NIE of the Times of India held “The Times NIE News makers Meet” which was a unique platform for budding journalists to interface and interact with real time journalists and editors. Nikhilesh Krishnakumar and Mrunmaye Sardesai represented our school for this programme. |

Mrs.Jyoti Shelke accompanied students of Std.IX for a “Saturday lecture/Demonstration Programme conducted at IUCAA. |

Procter & Gamble conducted a Mother-Daughter Hygiene Programme for girls and their mother of Std.VI & VII. |

The Zilla Parishid had organized the viewing of a short documentary on AIDS, called “Mala Jagyayanch” which was shown to children of Std.VIII & IX. |

A workshop on Physiological Awareness was conducted for students of Std.VII & VIII – for the girls it was conducted by Dr. Mrs. Mehtani and for the boys it was conducted by Dr. Vivek Billampally. |

Bishop’s School conducted their Annual Inter School English Debate for the Patwardhan Trophy. The topic of the debate was “Nuclear Weapons are war Deterrents”. Shekhar Bhende and Priyanka Singh spoke for the motion and the latter against the motion given. They were trained by Mrs. Ashita Pardeshi. |

Dr.Kalmadi Shamarao High School conducted the Interschool Festival of Poetry “
Versatility” This event was covered by the team from BBC television. The poem was to carry a message. The following children, trained by Mrs. Sujata Kotnis, won the third prize : Gauri Gatkari, Shreja Khisty, Isha Rege, Akshay Mohile, Devesh Narayanan, Anoushka Joglekar, Samarth Kirloskar, Anoushka Hardikar, Adwait Bhide, Namita Damle, Aishwarya Adgaonkar and Namrata Singh |

Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School conducted a debate called “Talk of the Town’. The topic of the debate was “The Indian Culture is losing its identity because of globalization”. This event was covered by a team from BBC television. Priyanka Singh of Std.X and Pramatha Mulay of Std.IX participated in this event and won the second prize. Mrs. Nisha Pathak was responsible for training these children. |

Children of Std.IX walked through Janawadi, Gokhale Nagar and nearby areas, and spoke to people about giving their children (under 5-6 years of age) the next dose of Polio Vaccine. |

Our School participated in the interschool competition organized by IUCAA on Saturday 24th February, as part of Science Day Celebration. Our quizzing team of Rohan Biwalkar, Piyush Kulkarni and Ameya Deshpande won the second prize in the much awaited, exciting, interschool quizzing competition. They also won a cash award of Rs.200/- each. |

VPMS inaugurated the SMS Services for School-Parent Communication , to facilitate smooth communication between parents and school regarding their wards, and school related activities. |

As an end of the year activity, a number of activities were organized by the Environmental Education Department with the help of Mr. Swapnil Sheth and Mr.Parag Khataukar.. A debate was arranged for children of Std.VIII & IX. There were 6 teams of 4 members each ( 3 teams for and 3 teams against) and the topic for the Debate was “Is development more Important than the need for Conservation?”The participating team from Std.IX were : Nikita Junnarkar. Aayushi Jagad, Prmamtha Mulay, Vanessa Horig, Rucha Lunkad, Vishwas Pai, Akshay Nirbhay, Vedant Dham, Roshan Mohile, Tejas Veeramani and Nikita Bhagat. Participants of Std.VIII were : Devika Deshpande, Ronak Mehtani, Richa Raj, Salil Hangekar, Aniket Joshi, Debopriyo Moulik, Kunal Choudhary, Amrita Sachdeva, Vaibav Shah, Kishan Rana, Sarika Dhoot and Omkar Dhakephalkar. Students of Std.VIII were the winners.
Std.VI & VII had a quiz programme and there were six teams of 4 members . The participants of Std.VII were : Janhavi Apte, Amol Joshi, Priyam Patki , Oshan Apte, Aditi Misal, Annirudha Bhondwe, Janhavi Apte, Shweta Shinde, Namrata Date, Radhika Dnage, Akshay Kirloskar and Aishwarya Naik. Participants from Std.VI were Annushka Joglekar, Malhar Bhoite, Aaishwarya Adgaonkar, Annushka Hardikar, Namita Damle, Shlok Bhalinge, Jayandan Gejji, Akshay Mohile, Ketan Bedarkar, Shravani Baldota and Prachi Kumar. 28th February is celebrated as Science Day. During assembly, the importance of science and inventions of various scientists was read out by the POD. Rohan Biwalkar of Std.IX explained the principle of the working of the Hot Air Balloon. |

Later in the day, there was an exhibition of various science projects done by students of Std.IV to X. Mrs. Jyoti Shelke and students of Std.VII put up on a stall on delicious soups and salads that could be made with nutritious ingredients. |

Students of Std.IV visited Rajiv Gandhi Zoo at Katraj and the Kaware Ice Cream Factory for their school picnic/field trip. |

Students of Std.VII & VIII went for a trek cum picnic with Pugmarks to Splendor Country. |

Students of Std.IX went for an overnight picnic cum EVS field trip to Thosegar and Kaas. They were accompanied by Mrs.Swapnil Sheth and Mr. Parag Khataukar of Bharathi Vidhyapeeth. |
