The pandemic has definitely disturbed the well-established routine of our students and after two years of confinement at home, some children could have challenges facing this normalcy. There has been a lack of regular social interactions which could be emotionally taxing for some students and hence a few of them express themselves in ‘not so appropriate ways’. In order to make this transition easier for them and make the journey of Adolescent parenting a fun and worthwhile experience, a session was conducted on “Being an Emotion Coach” by our counsellor Ms.Mrunmayee Harshe on the 8th April at 9 am for Std IX parents and on 9th April at 8 am for Std X parents in the Audio Visual room of the main building.

Parents were made aware of what to expect from adolescence and ways to handle issues in a sensitive manner. Pointers of being an emotion coach was very well brought out by a role play by the two counsellors Mrunamyee and Sucheta. Various problem solving techniques and scaffolding method were discussed in detail

Parents were emotional after reading the personal letters from their ward of gratitude/ suggestions. Feedback session was very interactive and parents expressed their appreciation in conducting this much needed workshop at the beginning of the year.

The session ended by parents volunteering to form a self help group to collectively handle issues faced by adolescents.
