The Global Goals Project was initiated by the Oxford School, Trivandrum. The project involved exploring and finding solutions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14- Life Below Water. A team comprising of sixteen students from grades IV to VI of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune was assigned this project. The project commenced on 1st August.
After a series of virtual meetings and brainstorming sessions a plan was chalked out by the team. This involved exploring and understanding Goal 14 through Minecraft videos, case studies, role plays and Power Point presentations. A wide range of material comprising of posters, poems, songs, e-books and virtual story books were also created.
The project culminated in a virtual Grand Finale on 29th November. Team SDG -14 from VPMS, Pune was represented by the two SDG ambassadors, Naisha Sinha (Std V) and Prasuk Jain (Std VI). They made an impactful presentation to showcase the work done by their team. The strategies suggested for celebrating festivals in an eco-friendly way, were highly appreciated by the jury members.
In the present times when our students are still bound within the confines of their homes, this project provided them a unique experience to connect and learn through virtual collaborations and teamwork.
