Students of class X B at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune celebrated ‘International Day of Action for Rivers’ On 14th March 2022.
International Day of Action for Rivers is observed on March 14 every year. This year the theme of International Day of Action for Rivers is ‘Rights of Rivers’.
It is a day dedicated to save, celebrate and make people around us aware about our life-giving source of water. Solidarity is important and people must be committed to river management, across borders, if rivers have to be protected and used for economic purposes. Communities dependent on the rivers for their livelihood, globally, must come together to tell decision makers that rivers matter. Conservation is state of harmony between men and nature, Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.
VPMS has always been innovative in terms of exploring new ideas and executing them qualitatively keeping in mind the holistic development of the students.
Like all other assemblies the assembly put up by class XB was also a brilliant and well-coordinated performance conveying the necessary message across to the viewers.
The program began with the prayer conveying the message that there is need to grow deeper in our respect of And care of God’s Creation followed by thought for the day and some amazing facts about Indian rivers.
India is a unique country where rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, Mahanadi, Godavari, Narmada, Sindhu (Indus) and Cauvery are worshipped as gods and goddesses but unfortunately pollution is a huge problem.
Keeping this objective in mind, the students of class XB came up with the brilliant idea of conveying the message through poems, readings and songs, written and sung by the students themselves. Indeed, it conveyed the necessary message. The special assembly concluded with the National Anthem. Many hands including the school Principal Mrinalini Ma’am worked tirelessly to make this class assembly a fond memory.
