Padmashree Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil – a legendary figure in the history of cooperative movement is a shining example of how we can overcome all odds to achieve our dreams, inspire and empower everyone around us.

Under the umbrella theme ‘Perform to Transform’, Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune celebrated the 121st Birth Anniversary of Padmashree Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil on the auspicious day of “Narali Pournima” on 22nd August 2021. A special online assembly was conducted by the students of Grade-I A to celebrate this event. The celebration commenced with a prayer dance ‘Achyutam Keshavam’ to invoke the blessings of the almighty. This was followed by the traditional lighting of lamp by Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman, Dr. Manoj Narwade, Trustee and Secretary, Mrs. Nandini Vikhe Patil, Joint Secretary and Director Schools’ Program, Principal, Ms. Mrinalini Bhosale and Vice Principal, Mr. Amol Patil in the school premises.

The ‘Thought for the Day” was “Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”. The program continued with a role play enacted by Aarush Dhongde depicting the life of Padmashree, the inspiration behind setting up of our school. The students performed a dance ‘Kura Chalaya Ranaat’ dedicated to the farmers for their contributions to the sugar cooperative movement in Maharashtra. This was followed by speeches highlighting Padmashree’s life and his revolutionary work devoted towards the upliftment of the society. The students then displayed placards of the learnings from Padmashree’s life. The program concluded with a beautiful portrait of Padmashree drawn by Vikhyat Nair and the Vote of Thanks. The focus of this program was to instill Padmashree’s visionary thoughts amongst children from a very young age. All the students enthusiastically participated in the program and enjoyed.
