Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune celebrated ‘World Soil Day’ on 5th December 2021. Students of Standard V B performed using the virtual platform, the theme being “Perform to Transform” under the guidance of Principal Mrinalini Ma`am. The school has always motivated children to conserve and keep the environment clean.
World Soil Day (WSD), observed on 5 December annually, raises awareness about the importance of healthy soil. It is also observed to create the need to manage soil resources in a sustainable manner
The programme began with introduction of the day and our school prayer. Then children presented motivation quotes on the theme of World Soil Day. Facts about soil and importance of the day were presented by the children. Next, a very detail information about Types of Soil, Deforestation and Soil Erosion was presented through Power point presentation. On this day children made and displayed meaningful and colourful posters and slogans. This was Followed by a chorus song “Dhan Dhyana Pushpa Bhara…” which was written by famous Bengali poet Dwijendralal Roy. A dance acted by on background score on a famous Marathi poem “Kaalya Matit Matit….”. The programme further showed how one can easily do their part to conserve and save soil by making seed balls and planting it where natural flora has been destroyed. To create awareness students distributed these seed balls and saplings to respected Principal Mrinalini ma’am, Vice Principal Mr. Amol Patil, and the teachers of upper primary section. The programme finally concluded with Vote of Thanks.
The programme was premiered on YouTube and shared with parents and students of the entire school. The programme concluded with the responsibility of generating and communicating soil knowledge for the common good of all, leaving a strong message ‘Healthy soil for a healthy Life.’
