The 71 st Anniversary of the adoption of our Constitution was celebrated in Vikhe Patil
Memorial School, Pune in all the sections on 26 th November 2020 under the able guidance
of Principal Mrinalini who gave valuable inputs for the smooth conduction of the online
celebration of the progamme this year.
Known as the Samvidhan Diwas, the Constitution Day is also celebrated as a mark of
respect and tribute to India’s first law minister Dr. B.R Ambedkar who played a pivotal
role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
The occasion was celebrated in all its solemnity with the conduct of a special Assembly by
the students of the school highlighting the significance of the Constitution Day as well as
to reiterate the great work done by the revered members of the Constituent Assembly.
The Assembly commenced with the reading of worthy thoughts for the day to befit the
occasion, followed by the introduction to the Constitution through various activities that
were conducted across sections from the Pre-Primary to STD XII with speeches and PPT
presentations specially made to give the students a glimpse of the significance of the day
and creating an awareness about what the Indian Constitution entails, the need for a
Constitution, provisions of the Constitution with respect to our fundamental rights and
duties, interesting facts about the Indian Constitution along with the reading of the
Preamble. A brief discussion on the guiding values enshrined in the Preamble explained
by the teachers as well as by the students brought out the importance of being a Sovereign,
Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic and the urge to abide by them instilled a
sense of pride and reaffirmation of their commitment to the Indian Constitution.
