15th August 1947, a day of pride. The most important day in Indian history when India got its Independence.. This day is celebrated with great zeal every year. We at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune do so too. The children of classes VI-XII were present for the Independence Day celebrations.The programme began with a prayer in Marathi. After invoking God’s blessings, to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Principal unfurled the tricolour flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.
Arya Deshmukh gave the speech in English followed by an inspiring speech in Hindi by RiddhimaVidaya. The entertainment program then began with the famous song Maa Tujhe Salaam.. Class VII then put up short skits on the core values of the school namely Respect, Empathy, Gender Sensitivity and Democracy- This was followed by a tribute paid to our freedom fighters through an enactment by the children of class VII. The program ended by a foot tapping song from the movie Lagaan.
