As part of the Student Exchange program, seven students and two teachers, Ms. Camilla Anderson and Ms. Sophie Hedlund from Älvboda Friskola, School Sweden visited Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune from 20th January 2020 to 29th January 2020.
The objective of this program was to expose the students and their teachers to Indian culture and the latest methodologies of teaching used in Vikhe Patil Memorial School. Under the able guidance of our Principal Mrinalini Ma’am and our school international coordinator, Ms.Bharati Kudchadker, a day wise program was planned for the guests. This included visits to The National Memorial Aga Khan Palace, Late Sanjay Mahadeo Nimhan Gram Sanskruti Udyan, Shaniwar Wada, Parvati Temple and Museum and various other places near Pune city. These visits were well appreciated and enjoyed by both the students and teachers.
Students were also exposed to the curricular and extra-curricular activities conducted in the school like- Fine arts, tabla, western music, swimming and various club activities. The icing on the cake was their presence in the Republic day program followed by the colourful procession of the various floats depicting the diversity of` Indian culture.
The Indian and their Swedish correspondents enthusiastically participated in these activities and shared information as to how such activities are conducted in the Swedish education system.
On the last day of their visit the Swedish students made a presentation on the Waste Management System in Sweden, which was attended and appreciated by the grade nine students and teachers of Vikhe Patil Memorial School. The school had also planned the farewell lunch with typical Maharashtrian cuisine, which was relished by the students and teachers alike.
The teachers and the students of both the schools enjoyed sharing their views and understanding the difference in culture between both the countries. The acknowledgment of the Swedish guests was evident when they mentioned that their stay here was an enriching and memorable one.
