‘A Lesson Plan is an instructor’s road map towards empowering students’

An In- Service CBSE training was conducted on 12 th June ‘2022 Sunday for the staff of VPMS, Pune based on
the topic ‘The 5 E Lesson Plan’ by Ms. Khyati Dwarkadas.

The extensive comprehensive session designed was instrumental in providing a deeper insight and
understanding of the essentials of a lesson plan to equip teachers for using the 5E Model of Instruction to
sequence lessons and activities which provide best first instruction for all students.

The 5E Model of Instruction which includes five phases namely Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and
Evaluate providing a carefully planned sequence of instruction that places students at the center of learning. It
encourages teachers to create specific, skill oriented measurable goals that encourage all students to explore,
construct understanding of scientific concepts, and relate those understandings to phenomena or engineering
problems.

The interactive session enabled a learning platform for teachers to help them incorporate ‘Learning Outcomes’
in their day-to-day teaching and learning with children through a group activity wherein all teachers worked
collaboratively to design a 5 E model lesson plan of their subjects as well as presented them to the larger
audience. The lesson plans devised were also assessed by teachers of other groups through valuable feedback
for the same.

The concluding group activity helped the teachers demonstrate successful interactions within their groups as
well as the other groups making the session a joyful and an enriching one for all.
