Report- Club activity “Chilli Wonka’s flavour factory”

“Cooking is a survival skill, which every human being must know and to be a good chef one needs more than cooking skills…”

The participants of the Chilli wonka’s food factory were students from grades IX and X. The club aimed at incorporating educational components such as learning about nutrition, food safety, and kitchen hygiene. These lessons can help children develop healthy eating habits and instil good practices in the kitchen. The main objective of this club is to provide an environment for students to socialize, be creative, learn cooking skills, and have fun. The club also aims to equip the students to plan and prepare different cuisines by exploring new ways in the field of cooking. The club endeavours to generate an interest in creative and diverse culinary heritage by uplifting the inner talents of the students.

The club had organised a meeting where the first activity was finalized by all the club in charges and the plan of action was made clear by the head of the club Ms. Alpana Saxena. The food items that were decided for the first club activity were:

*Veg/non veg kathi rolls

*Shahi tukda

On the 27th of April, the cooking activity was conducted in the skating area. First, attendance was taken and the students were explained about the activity through a PPT. They noted down the ingredients and the method of cooking. The students then assembled in the allotted area (skating area) where the badges were distributed and they were made to sit in a group of 7 students each with one teacher. The activity was demonstrated by Lazarus Sir who heads our school canteen. The ingredients were brought by Sir and he first demonstrated both the “Veg and non-veg Kathi Rolls” to each group. After the demonstration of Kathi rolls, Sir and his team demonstrated how to prepare “Shahi tukda”. Then, work was equally distributed to each group and they also got a hands on experience of the same. After the entire cooking was done, students relished the mouth-watering delicacies and then was time for their feedback. They gave their feedbacks in the form of writing and their feedbacks were also recorded in the form of videos. It was an excellent learning activity with lots of fun!!! All the students and teachers are looking forward to the next activity.
