Cosmic Explorers- The Space and Astronomy Club

Welcome to the Space and Astronomy Club!

Whether one is a seasoned star gazer or just curious about the Cosmos, our Club is ones gateway to exploring the wonders of the outer space.

Our mission is to foster a community of enthusiasts who share a passion for astronomy, astrophysics, and space exploration.

In this Club, we shall have the opportunity to participate in engaging discussions, observe celestial events, and even embark on exciting field trips.

Join us as we unravel the mysteries of the Cosmos together and embark on a journey through the vastness of space.

Let us reach for the stars!

Agenda: Exploring the Cosmos through the Optics tool- PROJECTION CAMERA

Objectives: Activity based Education

  • The development of the Projection Camera Kit aims to revolutionize the learning of optics, which is an essential tool to observe the Cosmos.
  • The activity was designed to make learning an interactive and enjoyable experience with an emphasis on a hands-on approach to exploring various optical concepts. By engaging in a do-it-yourself activity, students delved into the fascinating world of light and optics, gaining insights into fundamental principles of properties of light, lens and their types.
  • The activity also aimed to provide the Club members a deeper insight into the functions of the human eye and image formations in an informal, yet engaging manner,

Activity Overview:

In addition to the hands-on activity provided by the Projection Camera Kit, a presentation was also conducted to complement the learning experience. The presentation included a brief mention of the history, types and application of telescopes while providing the students a solid foundation about telescopic operations. The members also gained information about contemporary advances in telescope technology and the cutting-edge technology behind space telescopes, showcasing the innovative instruments used to explore the cosmos.

Conclusion:

The hands -on experiential activity of assembling the Projection Camera Kit and the presentation enabled the students to delve into the world of optics while developing critical thinking skills, encouraging enquiry-based questions and observations and connecting theory to practical applications.

The satisfied  and contented smile seen on the faces of the students after adjusting the focal length to reflect a high resolution image of the object in view summarised the learning experience of the day !
