Gourmet Central Club – Activity 4 – 28th January 2023

Name of the Activity: Visit to Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Hotel management and catering Technology, Tathawade, Pune – 411033

The students of the Gourmet Central Club assembled in IX A for attendance. We left the school at 8.30 am. and reached the Institute at 9.20 am. The students and teachers received a warm greeting from the management. Prof. Sandeep Naik then briefed the students about the following points with the help of a PPT:

  • What is culinary arts?
  • Social and Professional advantages of being a chef.
  • Qualities for becoming good cook and good chef.
  • Hierarchy in a five-star kitchen.
  • How can one groom self to become a chef.
  • Sectors under Hospitality industry.

During the presentation, we were served with yummy breakfast prepared by the trainee students. After the session, we had a short discussion where the students got their doubts cleared and their questions answered by Sir. 

Prof. Sandeep then introduced us to the final year Hotel management students and also to their Principal. The Principal addressed the students. The students of Vikhe Patil Memorial school expressed their sincere gratitude by gifting the Principal and professor with a memento and a Thank you card. After that we were taken to the various departments related to Hotel management like the Basic training kitchen, Library, training restaurant, Suite, Amphitheatre, Storage room etc. We left the place at around 11.30 am. It was indeed a wonderful experience for the students where they got to learn everything pertaining to Hotel management.

  • Feedback: The feedback received from the students was overwhelming and very gratifying. They relished the breakfast served to them. They were very happy and commented on how exciting the whole experience was for them.
