Report- Independence Day Special Assembly

Date: 15 th August, 2022

As India celebrated its 76 th Independence Day on 15 th August, 2022, the students and staff of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune gathered to pay tribute to those whose contributions ensured the freedom that we enjoy today. Being able to celebrate this day, within the school campus after a gap of two years, made it an extra special event for all.

The Chief Guest for the day was Dr Ashok Vikhe Patil, Chairman of Vikhe Patil Foundation. The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the ‘Tiranga’ by the Chief Guest who was accompanied by our beloved Principal, Ms Mrinalini. This was followed by the National Anthem and Pledge.

The cultural programme for the day began with the school prayer, ‘Har Des Mein Tu’. Paying homage to the freedom fighters through the poem, ‘Salute the Flag’ was Shaurya Devadhe of Std IV. This was followed by a musical rendition by the choir of the Lower Primary Section. They sang the patriotic song, ‘Pyara Hindustan Hai Gopalon ki Shaan Hai’.

India’s journey through the past 75 years has been a great example of an impressive growth story. Delivering an insightful speech on our nation’s achievements post 1947 was Anav Vaidya from Std XII.

Next on the choir stands were the singers from the Upper Primary Section celebrating unity in diversity through a power-packed rendition of the song, ‘Chale Chalo’.

We then had our respected Chairman Sir reminding students about their responsibilities towards India. He touched upon the interdependence between freedom and responsibility. His words of appreciation for the event were a source of encouragement for all.

The entire Independence Day Special Assembly was beautifully compered by the Head Prefects- Swarali Deshmukh and Saarth Bhandari.

The event finally ended with a vote of thanks followed by a violin recital of the National Song by Shruti Raut of Std X.
