In a society that worships love, freedom and beauty, Dance is sacred. It is a prayer for the future, remembrance of the past and a joyful exclamation of thanks for the present. -AMELIA ATWATER RHODES

In sync with the above quote, the students of the rhythmic moves club participated in the culminating activity on 25 th February 2023. Learning, through creativity and intelligence don’t just come from the brain alone but from the entire body. Dance is an expressive movement with purpose and form. Through dance, students express, question and celebrate human experience, using the body as the instrument and movement as the medium for personal, social, emotional, spiritual and physical communication.

In the beginning, the club attendance was recorded by the teachers in-charge of the groups. The session started with the children practicing with their respective groups under the guidance of the teachers. Students were given an hour’s time to practice and perfect their moves after which they all gathered in the multipurpose hall to present their dances. The multipurpose hall was decorated and pepped up by the teachers and the stage was set for the final event. Students then presented their dances in groups. Children chose to create their own dances
which were a joy to watch. They showcased the dances enthusiastically that they had choreographed and they were incredibly happy to move their feet.

As it was the concluding session children had a sumptuous meal of Mc puff, veg burgers, cake and frooti. Over the five sessions children imbibed choreographic and performance skills and appreciation of their own and others’ dances. This also helped them learn technical and expressive skills to communicate through movement confidently, creatively and intelligently. It inculcated the value of team spirit and turn taking.

Like all art forms dance has the capacity to engage, inspire and enrich all students exciting the imagination and encouraging students to reach their creative and expressive potential.
